The Tarot, Magic, Alchemy, Hermeticism, and Neoplatonism, Third Edition

An exploration of the Tarot’s mystical roots, with a guide to The Tarot of Marseilles, The Waite Smith Tarot, The Alchemical Tarot, and The Tarot of the Sevenfold Mystery. Now with 59 updates since the second edition and two new illustrations

The Tarot, Magic, Alchemy, Hermeticism, and Neoplatonism Third Edition incorporates the material that was in Alchemy and the Tarot and The Tarot: History, Symbolism, and Divination, but updates the facts and, as you can tell by the title, covers a lot more material—about three times as much, with 680 pages and over 302 illustrations.

This is a fantastic book and covers the topic in a great deal of detail. I spent decades learning a lot of this stuff, I wish someone had sent this back in time, it would have saved me a lot of time!

This is a great book for anyone wanting to broaden their knowledge of Tarot. I’d also recommend picking up either Robert’s Alchemical Tarot or his Sevenfold Mystery Tarot as a companion to the book.

I really enjoy your writing style. I have your big 3 1/2 pound book by my chair and I’m in it every day. I much prefer your writing to others, pretty much hands down. Yours are the best-written, most informative and useful Tarot books in print.

Ferol Humphrey

If you want a well researched perspective that doesn’t simply pass on the old myths, read Robert’s work.

First of all let me thank you and tell you how much I appreciate your work.

Your book “The Tarot: History, Symbolism, and Divination” has been a strong influence on my spiritual development. The serious scholarship in your book as well as the intuitive approach to the Tarot has opened me up to the spiritual tradition surrounding the Tarot. I am deeply indebted to you for all the mystical experiences that my interaction with the Tarot has given me.

I am really looking forward to reading the new edition of “The Tarot, Magic, Alchemy, Hermeticism, and Neoplatonism” and learning more about your research and interpretations.

This book is amazing . I finally want to study tarot; it goes back even to Egypt,I can follow the real history, and from the Hermetic Tradition, and really study the tarot as a path.

This book has a place of honor on my shelf. I only got it last year and I’ve just about worn the spine through and creased so many corners from flips. It’s truly a Bible among Tarot books. Thank you sir.

Three weeks old and it looks like I’ve had it for the 30 years I’ve been doing this. The spine is shot, notes in margins and sticky flags are the devils incarnation I swear. LOL

This book is intended to be a guide to my Alchemical Tarot and my Tarot of the Sevenfold Mystery. It is the companion book for both decks. But it also covers the Tarot of Marseilles and The Waite Smith Tarot. So that it is a guide to the Tarot for anyone using any deck. Each chapter starts with a full-page illustration on the left hand page and the text on the right hand page. The first two pages of each chapter are illustrated below:
